Brahms Four and Bártok Violin Concerto with Christian Tetzlaff and San Francisco

This week Michael Tilson Thomas returns to the West Coast to lead the San Francisco Symphony at Davies Symphony Hall (May 14, 16, 17) and the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts at UC Davis (May 15). Violinist Christian Teztlaff guests with MTT and the SFS in Bartók’s Violin Concerto No. 2, on a program that also includes Brahms’s Fourth Symphony and Sibelius’s symphonic poem Lemminkäinen’s Return

Looking ahead, the San Francisco Symphony Music Director conducts Debussy’s Images, Fauré’s Pavane, and Dvorak’s Legends, and Grieg’s The Last Springwith the orchestra May 22 to 25. Yuja Wang also joins MTT and the SFS for Prokofiev’s First Piano Concerto and the Scherzo from Litolff’s Concerto symphoniqueNo. 4.
