Fall Season Preview: MTT and San Francisco Symphony

Sep 18, 2015

On September 24, 2015, Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony open the 2015-2016 season with an Opening Gala, featuring actor Kelsey Grammer, soprano Alexandra Silber and baritone Nathan Gunn as guest artists.

Fall concerts continue with Ravel, Chopin and Respighi on September 25 & 26, spotlighting the young pianist Daniil Trifonov in a performance of Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto.

From September 30 to October 3, the San Francisco Symphony presents a program of Tchaikovsky’s Sixth Symphony, selected songs of Duparc, Barber’s Knoxville Summer 1915, and Ted Hearne’s Dispatches (commissioned by the New World Symphony & San Francisco Symphony).

MTT and the San Francisco Symphony perform Sibelius’s Tapiola and Violin Concerto in D Minor with violinist Leonidas Kavakos, as well as Schumann’s Third Symphony, from November 12-15.

On November 19-22, MTT leads Strauss’s Serenade in E-flat Major and Brentano Lieder with soprano Laura Claycomb, complemented by Schumann’s First Symphony.
