On December 15, 2023, the corner of Grove Street and Van Ness Avenue, next to Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, was renamed “MTT Way” in honor of MTT’s 25 years as Music Director for the San Francisco Symphony. Legislation for the one-block ceremonial street sign was introduced by Mayor London Breed this fall and announced on stage at Davies Hall following one of MTT’s performances of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the symphony in October.

The ceremony was attended by many local leaders including Mayor Breed, US Congressperson Nancy Pelosi, former state senator and supervisor Mark Leno, SF Symphony CEO Matthew Spivey, and MTT’s husband, Joshua Robison.
