Following their acclaimed Chicago debut this past weekend, Michael Tilson Thomas and the New World Symphony are back in Miami Beach for concerts with pianist Emanuel Ax at the New World Center (October 25) and Adrienne Arsht Center (October 26). The concerts will include Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto and Schumann’s Second Symphony. Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony will release a hybrid SACD recording and digital download of Beethoven’s Cantata on the Death of Emperor Joseph II and Symphony No. 2 on SFS Media, the Orchestra’s in-house label, on Tuesday, November 12, 2013.

On October 17 Michael Tilson Thomas continues his performances with the New World Symphony , America’s Orchestral Academy, with performances of Niccolò Castiglioni’s Inverno In-ver, featuring the world premiere of a visual installation by British director, designer and video artist Netia Jones, in creative collaboration with MTT. Michael Tilson Thomas returns to Miami Beach to open the New World Symphony’s 2013-14 season this weekend in concerts October 5 and 6 with Yuja Wang. The Chinese pianist performs Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F in a program that also sees MTT leading the orchestra in Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite.
