This weekend, February 8 to 10, Michael Tilson Thomas and the New World Symphony present Making the Right Choices: A John Cage Centennial Celebration. Programmed and curated by MTT, this three-day festival honors John Cage’s legacy by exploring 26 of the composer’s rarely-performed works for large orchestra and ensembles of varying sizes. Through theatrically immersive expressions of Cage’s works, the program takes advantage of the staging, lighting and projection possibilities in the Frank Gehry-designed New World Center. Details.

Guest collaborators include soprano Jessye Norman, vocalists Joan La Barbara  and Meredith Monk, pianist Marc-André Hamelin, dancers Brandon Collwes  and Andrew Weber, and dancers from the New World School for the Arts.
