This May and June, Conductor Laureate Michael Tilson Thomas leads the London Symphony Orchestra in two performances at Barbican Hall. Together, they explore symphonic works by John Cage, Bartók, and Ives, along with Beethoven concerti featuring Julia Fischer and Daniil Trifonov.
On May 30, MTT and the orchestra highlight Cage’s The Seasons and Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra. Fischer is guest soloist for Beethoven’s Violin Concerto.
MTT and the LSO join forces with the London Symphony Chorus for Ives’s A Symphony: New England Holidays on June 2. The second half of the evening features Trifonov in Beethoven’s “Emperor” Piano Concerto.
