MTT conducts Gil Shaham and San Francisco Symphony in Liszt, Ravel, Mozart, Prokofiev and Adams

With their American tour less than one week away, Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony perform two separate programs, both featuring violinist Gil Shaham, November 6-9 in Davies Symphony Hall.

The concerts on November 6, 7, and 9 feature Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz No. 1, Ravel’s complete Daphnis et Chloé ballet score with the SF Symphony Chorus, and Gil Shaham performing Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5. The second program is performed on November 8 and includes Samuel Adams’s Drift and Providence—co-commissioned by the San Francisco Symphony and the New World Symphony—Gil Shaham performing Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2, and Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé.

Mahler’s Seventh Symphony–in addition to a program featuring works by Liszt, Prokofiev, Ravel, and Samuel Adams—is featured on MTT and the San Francisco Symphony’s American tour this fall. Together, MTT and the SFS appear in Kansas City’s Kauffmann Center for the Performing Arts (November 12), Ann Arbor’s Hill Auditorium (November 13 & 14), Cleveland’s Severance Hall(November 15), Boston’s Symphony Hall (November 16), Princeton’s McCarter Theater (November 18), New York’s Carnegie Hall (November 19 & 20), and Miami’s Arsht Center (November 22).
