MTT & New World Symphony inaugurate 2015/16 academic season

This October, Artistic Director Michael Tilson Thomas inaugurates the 2015/2016 academic season of the New World Symphony. On October 10 & 11 MTT kicks off the 28th season with Tchaikovsky’s First Symphony plus Stravinsky’s Renard and Les Noces alongside the 14-member Dmitri Pokrovsky Ensemble.

The New World Symphony presents an all-American program on October 23, comprising Ives’s “Thanksgiving Day” from Holiday Symphony and Copland’s Third Symphony. The following day, MTT leads the orchestra in a program with violinist Pinchas Zukerman performing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and a reprise of Copland’s Third Symphony.

On October 30, MTT and the New World Symphony Fellows perform selections from Schumann’s Dichterliebe and Papillons with baritone Joshua Hopkins as well as the composer’s Fourth Symphony.
