MTT returns to lead San Francisco Symphony in Wuorinen, Berg, Mahler & More

San Francisco Symphony Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas returns to the podium to lead the orchestra in a world premiere by Charles Wuorinen plus the music of Berg, Mahler, and more in March.

From March 15 to 17, MTT and the San Francisco Symphony deliver the world premiere performances of Wuorinen’s Sudden Changes, commissioned by the SFS. The concerts also spotlight soloist Behzod Abduraimov in Prokofiev’s Third Piano Concerto and a performance of Copland’s Third Symphony.

MTT and the SFS are joined by violinist Gil Shaham for Berg’s Violin Concerto from March 22 to 25 in San Francisco, on March 27 in Los Angeles, and on March 28 in Santa Barbara. MTT also conducts the orchestra in Mahler’s Symphony No. 5.
