In between their two London concerts, MTT and the LSO tour Spain with works by Debussy, Berlioz, and Weill. They give two performances in Madrid on January 27 and 28. To round out their tour, MTT and the LSO present their Barbican program in Valencia on January 29 and in Zarazoga on January 30.

LSO St. Luke’s Chamber Concert

To complement his performances of Debussy with the orchestras, MTT takes a more intimate look at the French composer’s music. On February 1, he performs Debussy’s violin and cello sonatas. The program also includes the Chansons de Bilitis – Debussy’s settings of three erotic poems by Pierre Louÿs – and the sparklingDanse sacrée et profane, a piece composed in 1904 to showcase the newly invented chromatic harp. For this concert, MTT collaborates as pianist and conductor with members of the LSO and mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter at Jerwood Hall, LSO St. Luke’s.
