As part of his Carnegie Hall Perspectives series, Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas takes the stage with Renée Fleming, Audra McDonald, and the San Francisco Symphony to open the 2018/19 Carnegie Hall season. They perform a selection of favorites from opera and musical theater on October 3 for an evening of music and gala festivities.
The program comprises Gershwin’s Cuban Overture, Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz No. 1, Gershwin’s An American in Paris, and vocal pieces by Gershwin, Rodgers, Villa-Lobos, Sondheim, and more.
MTT’s Perspectives series continues on October 4 as he leads the San Francisco Symphony in an all-Stravinsky program with violinist Leonidas Kavakos.
