This January, Michael Tilson Thomas leads the Vienna Philharmonic on a European tour.
MTT and the orchestra launch the performances at the Musikverein on January 17, presenting Mahler’s Ninth Symphony.
They make their way to Lugano, Switzerland (Jan 18), with a program that features Ives’s Decoration Day and Brahms’s Second Symphony. Onstage, Igor Levit joins the orchestra for Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto.
Other tour stops include Frankfurt, Germany (Jan 19) and Budapest, Hungary (Jan 21). They then return to highlight the program at the Vienna Konzerthaus (Jan 22).
MTT and the orchestra return to this program again in March at Carnegie Hall (March 5).
