Following a series of concerts celebrating the centenary season of the San Francisco Symphony and a week of performances with Yo-Yo Ma, Michael Tilson Thomas now leads the orchestra in performances of Mahler’s Symphony No. 3.
The four performances at Davies Symphony Hall, taking place from September 21 to 25, feature mezzo-soprano Katarina Karnéus as the soloist. Then, from September 29 to October 1, Michael Tilson Thomas conducts the San Francisco Symphony in the West Coast premiere of Thomas Adès’ Polaris: Voyage for Orchestra. The piece includes a companion multimedia presentation featuring abstract projections by renowned video artist Tal Rosner. Also on the program are Mozarts “Haffner” Symphony No. 25 and Stravinsky’sPetrushka.
