The New World Symphony and its Artistic Director, Michael Tilson Thomas, present an all-Russian concert program to be performed at the New World Center on February 17 and at the Adrienne Arsht Center on February 18. Gil Shaham joins MTT and the NWS for Prokofiev’s Second Violin Concerto. The concert will also include Tchaikovsky’s Marche solennelle and Rachmaninoff’s Second Symphony.

Michael Tilson Thomas will be featured in two new Great Performances presentations to be broadcast nationally in the US on PBS this March. On Thursday, March 29, PBS airs The Thomashefskys: Music and Memories of a Life in the Yiddish Theater at 8 p.m. ( check local listings ). This February, MTT travels to Israel to lead the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in performances of Copland’s ballet Billy the Kid, Brahms’s Second Symphony and Strauss’s Brentano Lieder.
