MTT conducts San Francisco Symphony in Mahler’s Ninth Symphony

This week Michael Tilson Thomas conducts the San Francisco Symphony in performances of Mahler’s Ninth Symphony at Davies Symphony Hall September 18 to 21. The performances anticipate MTT and the Orchestra’s upcoming U.S. tour in November 2013, when they will present Mahler’s Ninth at New York’s Carnegie Hall (November 14) and Ann Arbor’s Hill Auditorium (November 16).

MTT and the San Francisco Symphony have recorded all of Mahler’s symphonies and works for voice, chorus and orchestra.The Orchestra’s Mahler cycle on SFS Media has been recognized with seven Grammy Awards, including three Grammy Awards for its recording of Symphony No. 8 and the Adagio from Symphony No. 10. Live concert footage of Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 was included in SFS Media’s PBS television series Keeping Score: Mahler, now available on DVD and Blu-ray. Explore the Mahler cycle here.
