This March, Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas leads the San Francisco Symphony on an eight-city US tour.
To kick off the tour, MTT and the orchestra begin with home performances at Davies Symphony Hall (March 14-17). The program hears Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin and Sibelius’s Second Symphony. They are joined by Christian Tetzlaff for Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 3.
MTT and the orchestra make their way to Seattle’s Benaroya Hall (March 19), The Kennedy Center (March 23), Boston Symphony Hall (March 24), and Chicago Symphony Center (March 26). These concerts highlight MTT’s own Agnegram, Beethoven’s “Eroica” Symphony, and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor with Tetzlaff as soloist. MTT and the orchestra also appear at Kansas City’s Kauffman Center (March 21), where they reprise their Davies program with works by Ravel, Mozart, and Sibelius.
The final leg of the tour takes MTT and the orchestra to Urbana, IL (March 27), Lincoln, NE (March 28), and Ames, IA (March 29). Violinist Alexander Kerr joins for these performances, with Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto.
