On October 20 & 21, MTT conducts the orchestra’s season opener performances; together, they present Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra and Brahms’s Fourth Symphony. Pianist Gabriela Montero makes an appearance for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 14.

MTT leads the NWS in Rumshinky’s Overture to Khantshe in amerike, Dorman’s Jerusalem Mix, the first movement of Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, and – with Itamar Zorman – Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto on October 27.

MTT reunites with Emanuel Ax for Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto on November 3. The evening also hears the NWS perform Wagner’s Flying Dutchman Overture (guest conducted by Dean Whiteside), and Sibelius’s Symphony No. 5.
