MTT & San Francisco Symphony embark on tour of Asia with Yuja Wang & Dong-Hyek Lim

This November, Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony embark on a tour of Asia with pianists Yuja Wang and Dong-Hyek Lim.

The tour kicks off on November 9 in Seoul, South Korea as MTT leads the orchestra in Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with Yuja Wang, Bright Sheng’s Overture to Dream of the Red Chamber, plus Stravinsky’s Le Chant du rossignol and Firebird Suite. On November 10, they perform Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with Dong-Hyek Lim, MTT’s Agnegram, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 1.

MTT and the San Francisco Symphony continue on to Taiwan, performing in Tainan on November 12 and in Taipei on November 13.

On November 15 in Shanghai, MTT conducts Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with Yuja Wang alongside the music of Bright Sheng and Stravinsky. November 17 sees MTT lead the orchestra in his Agnegram, Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7, and – with Yuja Wang – Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in Shanghai. MTT, Yuja Wang, and the San Francisco Symphony appear in Beijing on November 18.

In Japan, MTT and the San Francisco Symphony perform Chopin’s Second Piano Concerto with Yuja Wang, MTT’s Agnegram, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 on November 20 in Osaka. They present the music of Bright Sheng, Shostakovich, and Mahler at Tokyo’s Suntory Hall on November 21. The tour concludes on November 22 at Tokyo’s NHK Hall.
