Michael Tilson Thomas returns to guest conduct the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for one week this season. For the performances on December 8, 9, and 10, MTT conducts Mahler’s-Blumine-the rejected Andante from his First Symphonyand Schoenberg’s orchestration of Brahms’s First Piano Quartet.
In addition, MTT and the CSO are joined by guest soloist Jeremy Denk for Beethoven’s Fifth Piano Concerto. All three concerts take place at Chicago’s Symphony Hall. Tilson Thomas returns to Chicago again in March, when he leads the San Francisco Symphony at Symphony Hall in a program of works by modern American composers as part of SFS’s “American Mavericks” tour.
